High Fashion Goes Affordable for the Holidays

Wallets, rejoice! High-end designers team up with discount retailers and e-tailers to meet the growing demand for affordable style this holiday season.

EBay Holiday Collective (Nov. 12). EBay teamed up with seven designers — Billy Reid, Ruffian, Tibi, Jonathan Adler, Chris Benz, Fallon and Steven Alan — to create five affordable holiday gifts each. The final collection ($20-$100) includes graphic tees, pajamas, travel accessories and both men’s and women’s apparel. The collaboration is part of eBay’s effort to strengthen its fashion presence (the online market teamed up with Coach for an exclusive sale earlier this month). Available at fashionvault.ebay.com.

Target & Neiman Marcus team up for the holidays.

Target and Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection (Dec. 1). Discount retailer Target and upscale department store Neiman Marcus hired 24 members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to design apparel and gifts ranging in price from $7.99 to $499.99 for the holidays. Never before did two retailers work hand in hand to debut such an extensive collection. Participating designers include CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu. Available at Target, select Neiman Marcus locations and online at target.com and neimanmarcus.com.

Happy spending!
